If you have a fireplace in your home, but want to skip the hassle of burning wood, a gas insert may be for you as well. Gas inserts are retrofitted wood-burning fireplaces that operate using gas. Inserts sit inside a metal box surrounded by a larger metal box that fits into the fireplace. The gas insert heats air in the area between these two boxes and then emits heat from its firebox.
A wood insert can be inserted into an existing masonry fireplace. If you have a masonry or a prefabricated fireplace that needs a facelift, an insert is there to fill the gap and rejuvenate your room. This means that it will exclusively take the place of your masonry fireplace, by connecting the insert via a flex vent liner to the chimney and flue leading outside which also stops any cold air from coming down the old chimney.
Electric inserts are designed as a replacement insert for existing wood burning fireplaces and provides a beautiful and economical substitute for a gas log set or gas insert. Just slide into your existing masonry or zero clearance fireplace and plug in!
